Regulation 14 Consultation

This consultation concluded in September 2018.

This information appeared on the Cressing Parish Council website during the Consultation period. Also included was information about the various locations of post boxes for completed questionnaires and where hard copies of the plan could be viewed or borrowed etc.

The draft Cressing Neighbourhood Plan (CNP) Policies are now going out for consultation to statutory bodies and to residents. This stage is called Regulation 14. The questionnaire provides you with an opportunity to say whether you approve of the policies or not and to give us your feedback. Your input is important in ensuring that the Plan reflects the views of the community.

The fact that the wider Braintree Local Plan has encountered problems with the Planning Inspectorate makes it even more important that we push ahead as quickly as we can because, in the absence of an approved Local Plan for the District, our Parish Neighbourhood Plan will carry more weight when it comes to deciding where more housing should be allowed and what kind of housing we should have.

For the most part, the Neighbourhood Plan policies reflect those of the District's draft Local Plan because we cannot go against the District's policies but we have also included elements which allow for Cressing's specific circumstances.

The parish has been subject to two large scale housing applications which have been given planning permission and one is already under construction. Also with the Appletree Farm site included in the BDC draft Local Plan for 70 houses and planning appplications submitted for 65 and 80, the parish has recognised and included these sites as an allocation in the plan. This will give the CNP more weight when future applications are submitted and help to protect the parish from further large development.
